|
Financial Assistance Policy
|
It is the goal of the LJSC that every child who wants to
play soccer is able.
We work hard to maintain the delicate balance between
keeping costs low while meeting our obligation to provide
safe facilities and a positive soccer experience for all
stakeholders (players, coaches, referees, parents, etc).
Each year the club provides financial assistance to
players unable to pay the full registration cost.
Requests for financial assistance are handled on a
case-by-case basis.
If you would like to request financial assistance,
please submit an email to the LJSC Registrar (ljsc.registrar@gmail.com)
with the player name(s) and age.
Also include a phone number where the Registrar can
contact you to discuss the situation.
|
|
|
Neither STYSA nor LJSC recommend children playing in an
older age group.
We understand that there are extenuating
circumstances, such as children with August birth dates who
want to play with their classmates. Indicate on your
registration that you want your child to play up.
You will be contacted by the Registrar to complete an
electronic play-up request form
The Age Group Coordinator, the Vice President, and the Head
Coach must approve play up requests.
Submission of a request does not guarantee approval.
|
|
|
LJSC must verify the age of all players.
There are no exceptions to this policy.
Returning players are age-verified.
New LJSC players (even if previously registered with other
local soccer clubs) must provide proof-of-age documentation
before they will be registered.
Acceptable forms of proof of age include:
·
certified or verified birth certificate.
Hospital, baptismal
or religious certificates are not accepted.
·
a Uniformed Services Identification and Privilege Card (or
the equivalent Department of Defense form) issued by the
uniformed services of the United States
·
a birth registration issued by an appropriate government
agency or board of health records
·
a passport
·
an alien registration card issued by the United States
Government
·
a certificate issued by the Immigration and Naturalization
Service attesting to age
·
a current driver’s license
·
an unexpired federal, state or local government
identification card (if documentation of birth is required)
·
a certification of an American citizen born abroad issued by
the appropriate government agency.
Players who must provide age-verification can achieve this
by one of these methods:
·
Preferred

during online registration
·
Provide a copy of the proof-of-age documentation to a Club
official at an in-person registration session

Soccer Age
|
Player age on July 31, 2009.
To play in the 2009 / 2010 soccer year, the player
must turn 4 before August 1, 2005.
There is absolutely no exception to this policy.
|
|
Age Group
|
Soccer uses U# to refer to the age group in which a player
and/or team compete.
e.g. a player 9 years old before August 1, 2009 will play in
the U10 age
group for the Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 seasons
LJSC recommends players compete in the age group that aligns
to their soccer age.
LJSC combines 4 and 5 year olds in the U6 age group.
|
|
Returning vs. New Player
|
A returning player
is someone who played on a LJSC team in the Fall 2008 Season
and/or the Spring 2009 Season.
For returning players, a player record exists in the
online registration database.
The primary additional requirement for a
new player
is to provide an official document to verify their age.
See Age Verification Policy Section for additional
information.
New recreational players,
U9 and above, need to participate in a skills assessment.
Skills assessments are scheduled in late May and
early June.
|
|
Recreational vs. Competitive
|
For recreational
teams, there are no tryouts.
For some age groups, a skills assessment is held to
help balance the teams. As long as there are enough players
to form a team, everyone is placed on a team. There are
strict rules regarding minimum playing time for the
recreational teams.
Competitive
teams are formed at the BYSA level.
Tryouts for Div II teams are held in May.
Players not selected for a competitive team are still
eligible to play on a recreational team.
