Refund Policy

Refunds must be requested in writing and received no later than August 1st.  The request must include the player name, date of birth, and reason for refund.  You can either email your request to the LJSC Registrar at ljsc.registrar@gmail.com or drop a letter in the LJSC Drop Off Box on the porch at 304 Sycamore, Lake Jackson (map)

Late Registration Policy

Due to the size of the LJSC Fall Soccer Program, a strict late registration policy is in force.  A non-refundable late fee of $30 is charged for any U7 and up player registered after May 31st.  Financial assistance is not available to cover the late fee.

Registration Freeze:  Registrations received after June 30th will be placed on a waitlist.  No charge will be made for the registration unless the player is placed on a team.

After team formation is complete using all players registered by June 30th, registrants of the appropriate age and gender from the waitlist will fill openings on a first-come, first-served basis.

Per STYSA policy, no player can be registered for the Fall Season after November 1st.

Financial Assistance Policy

It is the goal of the LJSC that every child who wants to play soccer is able.  LJSC works hard to maintain the delicate balance between keeping costs low while meeting our obligation to provide safe facilities and a positive soccer experience for all stakeholders (players, coaches, referees, parents, etc).  Each year the club provides financial assistance to players unable to pay the full registration cost.

Requests for financial assistance are handled on a case-by-case basis and must be received before June 30th.  If you would like to request financial assistance, please contact the LJSC Registrar (ljsc.registar@gmail.com) with the player name(s) and age.  You must include a phone number where the Registrar can contact you to discuss the situation.

Play Up Policy

Neither STYSA nor LJSC recommend children play in an older age group.  We understand there are extenuating circumstances.  If you want your child considered for placement in an older age group, please contact the LJSC Registrar (ljsc.registar@gmail.com) with the player name, date of birth, age group desired, and reason for request.

The applicable Age Group Manager, Vice President, and Head Coach must approve play up requests.  Submission of a request does not guarantee approval.

Age Verification Policy

LJSC must verify the age of all players.  There are no exceptions to this policy.  Returning players are age-verified.

New LJSC players (even if previously registered with other local soccer clubs) must provide proof-of-age documentation before they will be registered.  Acceptable forms of proof of age include:

·         certified or verified birth certificate. Hospital, baptismal or religious certificates are not accepted.

·         a Uniformed Services Identification and Privilege Card (or the equivalent Department of Defense form) issued by the uniformed services of the United States

·         a birth registration issued by an appropriate government agency or board of health records

·         a passport

·         an alien registration card issued by the United States Government

·         a certificate issued by the Immigration and Naturalization Service attesting to age

·         a current driver’s license

·         an unexpired federal, state or local government identification card (if documentation of birth is required)

·         a certification of an American citizen born abroad issued by the appropriate government agency.

Players who must provide age-verification can achieve this by one of these methods:

·         PREFERRED - Email an electronic copy to the LJSC Registrar ljsc.registrar@gmail.com

·         Drop a paper copy in the LJSC Drop Box on the Registrar's porch at 304 Sycamore, Lake Jackson (map)

Soccer Age

Player age on July 31, 2011.  To play in the Fall 2011 / Spring 2012 soccer year, the player must turn 4 before August 1, 2011.  There is absolutely no exception to this policy.

Age Group

Soccer uses U# to refer to the age group in which a player and/or team compete (U stands for “under”).

example: a player 9 years old before August 1, 2011 will play in the U10 (or under 10) age group for the Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 seasons

LJSC recommends players compete in the age group that aligns to their soccer age.  LJSC combines 4 and 5 year olds in the U6 age group.

Returning vs. New Player

A returning player is someone who played on a LJSC team in the Fall 2010 Season and/or the Spring 2011 Season.  For returning players, a player record exists in the online registration database.

The primary additional requirement for a new player is to provide an official document to verify their age.  See Age Verification Policy Section for additional information.

New recreational players, U9 and above, need to participate in a skills assessment.  Skills assessments are scheduled in early June.

Recreational vs. Competitive

For recreational teams, there are no tryouts.  For some age groups, a skills assessment is held to help balance the teams. As long as there are enough players to form a team, everyone is placed on a team. There are strict rules regarding minimum playing time for the recreational teams.

Competitive teams are formed at the BYSA level and sponsored by member clubs.  Tryouts for Div II teams are held in May.  Players not selected for a competitive team are still eligible to play on a recreational team.
